This is the infinitive form. In order to form infinitive, English language uses particle TO, and German uses particle ZU, like: Ich habe ZU tun. = I have TO do. However, as in English, the German particle ZU is not used with modal verbs, as well as with: lassen, bleiben, gehen, hören, sehen, lernen, i.e.: Kann sein. = Can be., Lass mich spielen. = Let me play., Wir bleiben stehen. = We remain standing (continue to stand).

Passive Voice - Passiv

This is very similar to the Passive Voice in English, where an action is not done by the subject, but upon the subject and therefore the subject plays passive role in the sentence.
German language has two forms of Passive Voice: Vorgangspassiv and Zustandspassiv.
Vorgangspassiv (action) describes an action or a process, like: Die Tür wird geöffnet.=The doors are being opened.
Zustandspassiv (state) describes not the action but the state or the result of some action, like: Die Tür ist geöffnet.=The doors are opened.
Vorgangspassiv is formed with the helper verb werden + the verb in the Perfekt form.
Zustandspassiv is formed with the helper verb sein + the verb in the Perfekt form.

Examples Vorgangspassiv:

Das Spiel wurde gespielt. = The game was played. or The game was being played., Das Spiel wird gespielt. = The game is played. or The game is being played., Das Spiel wird gespielt werden. = The game will be played., Das Spiel ist gespielt worden. = The game has been played., Das Spiel war dann gespielt worden. = The game had been played then.
Examples Zustandspassiv:

Das Spiel ist gespielt. = The game has been played. (is no longer being played)

usage:
spielen + (Akkusativ) = to play (something, as: guitar, football, ...)
spielen + mit + (Dativ) = to play with (someone)
spielen lassen = to let (someone) play (here, unlike in English, someone must be in Accusative case, as: Lass ihn spielen. = Let him play.)
